Build boats out of recycled materials.

Math awareness

The focus is on numbers, counting and various representations of numbers.

Materials

Lids, sponges, plastic containers, popsicle sticks, straws, stickers, buttons…

Activity

Build boats. Let them each represent a number or use dices to decide on the numbers. If you want the boats to be able to sail afterwards, make sure they can float.

Play/Learn

If the boats each represent a number line them up in order or reverse order.

You can also play race the boats. Use dices to determine which boat is allowed to move one step forward.
